Van Persie Back At Emirates For Pre-Season Training

Robin van Persie made his long-awaited return to Arsenal, with the club still hopeful of persuading the want-away striker to perform a dramatic contract u-turn.

The 28-year-old Holland international has just 12 months to run on his existing deal, and stunned the club when he declared on his website earlier this summer, his intentions to end his eight-year affiliation with the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger is expected to have a ‘heart-to-heart’ discussion with his captain at the first available opportunity, in a bid to convince Van Persie to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium.
Having already tabled a three-year deal worth a reported £130,000-per-week - plus a £5million loyalty bonus - Arsenal have already offered to break their current wage structure in order to keep the star striker.
But, with reported interest from Juventus, Manchester United and Manchester City, the club face a fight to retain his signature.
Arsenal head off on their pre-season tour of the Far East at the weekend, and it remains to be seen whether or not Van Persie will be included in the squad.
If his stance has not changed, then there is a strong chance Wenger could look to push through the sale of the Dutchman, to avoid the risk of letting the player leave in a cut-price deal in January, or walk away on a free next summer.
