Five People Killed in Maiduguri.
Five persons including three brothers were Monday shot dead by unknown gunmen in some parts of Maiduguri.
The three brothers were killed in the morning hours at Ganaram area of the town just moments after they left their parents. It was gathered that the visit to their parents was pre-arranged by the brothers in their tradition of dropping foodstuffs for the celebration of Ramadan.
A source revealed that the brothers had brought foodstuffs to their aged parents to break the Ramadan fast daily and they were on their way back from the area when they were attacked and killed. The source further revealed that their Toyota Camry car was snatched from them and taken away to an unknown destination.
On Monday afternoon, there was great apprehension and mourning with many contemplating relocating from the area for fear of another attack. In the other incident, there were shootings at the Gamboru area of the town, known for incessant attacks from the Boko Haram sect.
This led to the death of two persons around the Customs office leading to many residents scampering for their lives.
When contacted to confirm the incidents last night, the spokesman of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, said he was not aware of the killings.
